Apply LUT

Apply LUT
Color

Applies a LUT file (.cube, .3dl, .clf, .ctf, .csp, .vlt) as a color-managed look, with input/output color-space pickers and a Mix slider.

Apply LUT loads a look-up table from disk and applies it as a color grade. The common interchange formats are supported (.cube and .3dl first, plus .clf, .ctf, .csp, .vlt, and .look via OCIO), so looks built in DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, or any other grading tool drop straight into the graph.

Because most creative LUTs are authored for display-referred sRGB footage, Apply LUT is color-managed: the LUT Input Space and LUT Output Space pickers declare what the file expects and produces, and ArcBrush converts the working space to and from those spaces around the LUT. The defaults (sRGB in and out) are right for typical creative LUTs; pick the working space entry for linear-domain technical LUTs.

Interpolation selects the sampling method (Tetrahedral is the highest-quality default for 3D LUTs), Mix blends the graded result against the unprocessed input, and Watch File auto-reloads the LUT when it changes on disk, so you can iterate in your grading tool and see updates live.

LUT FileText

Path to a LUT file (.cube / .3dl primary; .clf / .ctf / .csp / .vlt / .look also read via OCIO FileTransform)

Watch FileToggle
Default: false

Auto-reload when the file changes on disk (polls once per second)

Color Space

LUT Input SpaceText
Default: sRGB Encoded Rec.709 (sRGB)

OCIO color space the LUT expects its input in. The working space is converted to this space before the LUT is applied. Defaults to sRGB (display-referred), correct for most creative LUTs; use the working space (no conversion) entry for linear-domain LUTs

LUT Output SpaceText
Default: sRGB Encoded Rec.709 (sRGB)

OCIO color space the LUT produces. Converted back to the working space after the LUT is applied. Defaults to sRGB (display-referred)

InterpolationChoice
Default: Tetrahedral

LUT sampling method

  • TetrahedralHighest-quality sampling for 3D LUTs. The default.
  • LinearFaster sampling, fine for smooth LUTs.
  • BestLets OCIO pick the most accurate method available for the loaded file.
MixNumber
Default: 1.00 Range: 0.00–1.00

Blend between the unprocessed input (0) and the full LUT result (1)

  • Leave the color-space pickers at sRGB for creative looks from Resolve or Photoshop; they are almost always display-referred.
  • Use Mix below 1 to take the edge off a strong look without editing the LUT.
  • Enable Watch File while authoring a LUT elsewhere; every save re-applies automatically.
  • In a 32-bit (float) document, clamp or soft-clip overbrights first if the LUT was built for 0-1 input.
