Polar Remap

Transform

Converts between Cartesian and polar coordinate spaces, turning straight lines into circles and vice versa.

Polar Remap transforms the image between rectangular (Cartesian) and polar coordinate systems. In Cartesian-to-Polar mode, horizontal position maps to angle and vertical position maps to radius. Straight horizontal lines become concentric circles, and vertical lines become radial spokes.

Polar-to-Cartesian reverses the process, unwrapping circular patterns into rectangular ones. The center point is adjustable so you can set the origin of the polar transform anywhere in the image.

ModeChoice
Default: Cartesian to Polar

Cartesian to Polar / Polar to Cartesian

  • Cartesian to PolarConvert rectangular coordinates to polar — horizontal maps to angle, vertical maps to radius.
  • Polar to CartesianConvert polar coordinates back to rectangular — unwraps circular patterns into straight lines.
Center X %Number

Horizontal center of polar origin

Center Y %Number

InterpolationChoice
Default: Bilinear

Nearest / Bilinear / Lanczos

  • NearestNo interpolation — preserves hard pixel edges. Best for pixel art.
  • BilinearSmooth blending between pixels — good general-purpose quality.
  • LanczosHighest quality with sharp detail preservation — best for final output.
  • Apply Cartesian-to-Polar to a horizontal stripe pattern to create concentric ring patterns.
  • Use Polar-to-Cartesian to unwrap a radial design for easier editing, then re-wrap with Cartesian-to-Polar.
  • Combine with Pattern or Noise for unique kaleidoscope-like effects.
  • Adjust Center X/Y to move the focal point of the polar warp.
